Buying Moby instead of Black Eye Peas Cd

E-mail Print PDF

To Black Eye Peas (BEP) fans, as you might have noticed, their reign is almost over because the latest album (The E.N.D) does not reflect what the band used to represent: the underground musical scene. They have become a very popular band producing pop music lacking substance.  The music contained in the album does not impress. The mainstream production of the album is probably the fault of front-man will.I.am who was catapulted to fame by his work for Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign and his  appearance in two Hollywood blockbusters (Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and X Men Origins: Wolverine).  For the album, will.I.am admitted to have been inspired by techno beats and his work with the Obama campaign. The album seems to be a product of Fergie and will.I.am with very little participation of the remaining two BEP members; Apl.de.Ap  and Taboo who by many are considered the voice of the underground. The single  Boom Boom Pow's 12 consecutive weeks on top of many charts is a proof that the Black Eye Peas have produced music to fulfill the insatiable appetite for popular music; or commercial music without any substance.
I will not buy BEP's The E.N.D but instead Moby's Wait for Me (Little Idiot). The Techno-rock star Moby has finally decided to go back to his original sound in his latest production. Moby and his timely collaboration with Amelia Zirin-Brown and  Ken Thomas makes the album definitely worth your money and your time.

Grace Rwaramba: Michael Jackson Wife from Rwanda?

E-mail Print PDF

Grace Rwaramba the Rwandese woman who worked for Michael Jackson for the last 17 years has been described by many as Michael Jackson's secret wife. She was the nanny for Michael Jackson's 3 children; Prince Michael, 12, Paris Katherine, 11 and six-year-old Prince Michael II.   The children who referred to  Rwaramba as "mom" did not have a 'real' mother, just like Michael Jackson liked it. Debbie Rowe who gave birth to two of  the kids was not present in their lives while growing up. Katherine Jackson, the 'grandmother' who is likely to take the children was also not present in their lives, except for a few visits to the kids.
This only leaves one person who can legitimately be declared as the mother: Grace Rwaramba. She has always been present in their lives and as a result, she has formed a bond with the children as a 'real' mother would with her children. it seems that  the bond will be cut off because the kids will not be under her responsibility anymore. Many in Michael Jackson's entourage believed that Grace Rwaramba was the King of Pop's  secret wife.  Putting the legal wrangles aside, Rwaramba should be given custody of the children because this will be an advantage to the kids who deserve a 'normal' upbringing.

The Malawi Elections Winner

E-mail Print PDF

Malawians are waiting for the resuts of the just ended elections that were held on Tuesday May 19th, 2009. The winner of the election is not Bakili Muluzi who endorsed his archrival; John Tembo of the Malawi Congress Party. The real winner is not Bingu wa Mutharika who is seeking the office of presidency for the second time. The Malawian people are the real winners of the elections because these elections were held without major recorded incidents. This is reaffirmed by taking a look at some the elections held in the African continent in the last five years. Some like the Kenyan elections were very bloody. On the other hand, Malawians should be happy tha no gruesome incidents were recorded (yet) and though all the borders were closed on election day, no war or guerilla activity has been prophesied. So the real winner is Malawi itself and its people.

Dar-es-Salaam is burning

E-mail Print PDF

By Semsem Mbegu

Africa Matata correspondent Adam Akilimali tells what is happening in Dar-es-Salaam:

"I work at least 5 Km from the Mbagala Military base in Dar-es-Salaam. when I heard the first blast, I was in my office ready to leave and the next thing I know is that I was on the ground for about 10 minutes, thinking about my wife and my two daughters.

The first thing that came in my mind was a terrorist attack like 9/11 in the USA or the US embassy attack in 1998. After I regained my energy, I gathered myself, look through the windows only to realize that the city was on fire, in the chaos everyone was running some from south to north and some from north to south. I tried to find a taxi, or a Daladala(bus)... None in sight.

I realized how unprepared we are to face situations like this.

That's when the second and third blow shook the ground. In my mind I said: this is Armaghedon, the end has arrived! I could see many people running, many wounded in the panic. I turned my pocket radio on. It was announced that there is an incident at the Mbagala Base, not to panic. I decided to walk home..."

It is believed that the explosions were caused by an accident. So far they have been hundreds of wounded and at least 3 dead according to the officials. Mbagala base had many amminutions stored including bombs, land mine and rockets.
