The Malawi Elections Winner

E-mail Print PDF

Malawians are waiting for the resuts of the just ended elections that were held on Tuesday May 19th, 2009. The winner of the election is not Bakili Muluzi who endorsed his archrival; John Tembo of the Malawi Congress Party. The real winner is not Bingu wa Mutharika who is seeking the office of presidency for the second time. The Malawian people are the real winners of the elections because these elections were held without major recorded incidents. This is reaffirmed by taking a look at some the elections held in the African continent in the last five years. Some like the Kenyan elections were very bloody. On the other hand, Malawians should be happy tha no gruesome incidents were recorded (yet) and though all the borders were closed on election day, no war or guerilla activity has been prophesied. So the real winner is Malawi itself and its people.
